2waytraffic, a Sony Pictures Entertainment company, has unveiled a slate of new formats for MipTV covering a range of genres from comedy to reality. Honey, Please, created by Israeli company, Keshet, is a humour-packed hidden camera show challenging a contestant to convince an unwitting partner to perform five uncharacteristic, and often baffling, tasks in a cash prize competition. Using hidden cameras and microphones, their every move is recorded and later, they get to view how they did along with their families and friends. Make My Day,fromEmbassy Row and recently commissioned in the US, is a hidden camera format in which a lucky individual experiences the best day of their life, choreographed by those who love them most, topped off with a heart-warming reveal. Created by Monkey Kingdom, the format has already been a hit in the UK, Sweden, Belgium, Australia, France and Norway.
Also from Monkey Kingdom, Your Kid’s An Idiot is a new reality format in which ten spoilt teenagers and the parents who have spoilt them come under the spotlight. Plucked from the comfort of their homes, the teenagers must live together and face tasks as their doting parents observe. The format is slated to launch on BBC Three in the UK. Stars Out Of Africa, which has already aired on TV2 in Hungary, is a celebrity reality format featuring ten celebrities trekking across the world’s most fascinating continent. From the grasslands of the savannah to the extreme desert heat, cameras capture every breathtaking moment, while fast-turnaround editing ensures viewers relive the drama that very night.
From Outlaw Prods. and Sony Pictures Television, Strictly Vocal features only vocalists – completely unaccompanied by any musicians or backing tracks – and taps in to the global growth of a cappella singing, especially among university and college groups. NBC has picked up the show in the U.S. under the title The Sing-Off. In a brand new twist on the classic format, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
