2waytraffic, a Sony Pictures Entertainment company, will present three family entertainment formats from Dutch production company, Tuvalu Media, to the international market in Cannes next month: Stars in the Class and You’ve Been Faked, both of which have been recommissioned for a second series in the Netherlands, and Columbus’ Egg, currently on air.
Stars in the Class is a new factual entertainment format which puts celebrities in front of the toughest audience there is – a class full of schoolchildren. With only a lesson plan and pep talk from a mentor, the celebrities are assigned a classroom of real-life students to teach, under the watchful eye of the classroom cameras. A second series of Stars in the Class has recently been ordered in the Netherlands by public broadcaster Teleac.
Columbus’ Egg is a new entertainment format showcasing the talents of young entrepreneurs and inventors, currently a success in the Netherlands on TROS. In each episode, five contestants, aged between eight and thirteen, pitch their idea for a new product to an expert panel of judges. Two are chosen and teamed with mentors who help them take their idea to the next level and through to the grand final where they compete for the chance to set up a real business based on their product.
You’ve Been Faked turns the global explosion in user generated content and online videos into a hilarious celebrity panel gameshow. Each week two celebrity teams compete to tell the difference between the real and the faked as they are shown wild and wacky video clips, some of which are genuine and some of which are the work of stuntmen and cutting edge production techniques. Already slated for a second season on TROS, You’ve Been Faked is a fresh approach to a time-tested format that uses some of the world’s funniest and most entertaining video clips.
Commenting, Ed Louwerse, Managing Director, 2waytraffic International, said:
“Each of these formats has something different to offer, from celebrities being put on the spot, to showcasing young, entrepreneurial talent, to some hilarious video moments. Tuvalu is among the Netherlands’ most prolific and successful production outfits and I’m delighted to present this fantastic trio of formats at MipTV."
