2waytraffic signs multiple European deals for Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
2waytraffic is delighted to announce the return of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? to Bulgaria’s Nova Television, Poland’s TVN, Macedonia’s A1 Television, RTP in Portugal, and a brand new license with Prima TV in the Czech Republic
The globally successful format returns to the five territories following a break of one year in Macedonia, 4 years in Poland, 8 months in Bulgaria, and of 2 years in the Czech Republic and Portugal.
In Bulgaria, independent production company SIA Ltd, has renewed its license to produce the show for commercial television network, Nova Television. The new series, which features a new fourth lifeline and a bigger jackpot prize, launched earlier this week, winning its slot by almost ten share points and recording Nova’s highest ratings of the day.
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, known locally as Milionerzy, will re-launch on the Polish commercial network TVN channel in February 2008 with a new faster 12-step money tree, as well as refreshed music and graphics. TVNhas commissioned Polish independent producer, Intergalactic, to produce the format.
A1 Television will both produce and broadcast the show in Macedonia, where it is known as Koj saka da bide milioner?. The show will re-launch later this month in a new twice weekly slot, featuring new graphics and music, a new money tree offering contestants bigger winnings than previously at all levels after the first six, and a bigger jackpot prize.
In the Czech Republic, Prima TV, a brand new licensee for Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, will produce and broadcast the show from early 2008 under the title, Milionář. The show was last broadcast in the Czech Republic by Nova Television in September 2005.
In Portugal, 2waytraffic has signed a deal with independent producer CBV to produce Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? for Portuguese public broadcaster, RTP. The show was last broadcast in Portugal in 2005, also on RTP, and will relaunch with refreshed music and graphics, and a fourth lifeline, later on this month.
Ed Louwerse, Managing Director of 2waytraffic International, commented:
“I am delighted that TVN, Nova Television, RTP and A1, like so many other broadcasters around the world, feel that now is the right time to reintroduce Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? to their schedules, and to welcome Prima TV as a brand new licensee. We’ve already seen a great result on Nova and I look forward to replicating that success in the further relaunches scheduled over the coming months.”
