2waytraffic International today announces new deals for 50-50 in Spain and Macedonia.Spain’s Cuatro has commissioned 65 x 60’ episodes to be produced by independent production company, Martingala, to play daily in Spanish access primetime from the end of June. In Macedonia, A1 will produce and broadcast a run of 35 x 60’ episodes with transmission slated for later this summer in a daily primetime slot.
50-50 extends the 50-50 Lifelinefrom Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? into a new format in which contestants play in pairs and make straight choices between two possibilities. The format can be produced as a spin off from Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? or as a stand-alone show.
Cuatro’s version of 50-50 will be stand-alone, whilst A1, the producer and broadcaster of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? in Macedonia, will create a spin off version of the show.
2waytraffic launched 50-50 to the international market at Mipcom in October 07. The format has already successfully aired in a daily slot on Mediaset’s Canale 5 in Italy, and has also been commissioned by Japan’s Fuji channel, while Mega Channel in Greece will launch a daily version of the show to launch in Autumn 2008.
Ed Louwerse, Managing Director of 2waytraffic International, added:
“Together these deals prove the full versatility of 50-50 and demonstrate how the format works equally well as both a stand-alone format and a Millionaire spin off. They are great additions to 50-50’s track record which, with further deals close to signature, goes from strength to strength.”
