Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? re-launches on Australia’s Nine Network with a new look
2waytraffic International is delighted to announce the re-launch of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? on the Nine Network in Australia after a break of 18 months.
The globally successful show returns with a fresh new 30-minute format, and an exciting new time slot and scheduling.
The series will launch with a 60-minute special before assuming a new regular 7pm slot from Monday to Friday, with Eddie McGuire reprising his role as quizmaster. As well as refreshed graphics and music, the format will feature a new fourth Lifeline, ‘Switch’, which allows contestants to pass on a specific question and receive a new one.
Millionaire performs consistently well for the Nine Network and has achieved outstanding average shares of up to 28.4%, peaking at 33.6%.
Ed Louwerse, Managing Director of 2waytraffic International, commented: “After a break of 18 months, we’re delighted Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? will soon be back on air on Nine with a fresh new look, Lifeline and timeslot. This exciting re-launch is testament to the show’s continued popularity and longevity in yet another territory.”
Andrew Backwell, Nine's Director of Production & Development, added: "Channel Nine Australia is excited to be bringing back a revised half hour format of Millionaire, hosted by Eddie McGuire. This initial run of 30 episodes stripped daily for the final 6 weeks of the ratings year is a programming stunt designed to excite viewers and attract them to a refreshed 7pm timeslot during the most competitive period of the year."
